GoRapidDNA Summary
The Pennsylvania State Police is expanding its Rapid DNA program to municipal law enforcement agencies, giving local investigators faster forensic support during active cases. Since launching the program last year, PSP has processed more than 354 samples, generating 190 DNA profiles and 163 investigative matches tied to ongoing investigations. PSP leaders say the expansion will help local departments move more quickly on violent crimes, burglaries, assaults, and other qualifying offenses while improving investigative efficiency. The announcement comes as Governor Josh Shapirocontinues pushing broader public safety investments, including funding for additional troopers and expanded violence intervention programs.
