GoRapidDNA Summary
The Saline County Sheriff’s Department in Arkansas unveiled a new rapid DNA system, the first of its kind in an Arkansas detention facility. Funded by a $1 million federal grant, the technology can generate DNA profiles in approximately 90 minutes, compared with weeks using traditional lab processing. While it offers faster results and potential field use, processing costs are roughly twice as high. Sheriff Wright is working to establish partnerships with surrounding law enforcement agencies to expand access to the technology.
