GoRapidDNA Summary

The King County Sheriff’s Office is introducing a new rapid DNA machine that can produce a DNA profile in about 90 minutes, dramatically speeding up results that previously took weeks or months at the state crime lab. This tech will help investigators quickly identify or eliminate suspects in criminal cases and reduce the volume of evidence sent out for costly testing. The machine is part of a broader effort to modernize local forensic capabilities and improve turnaround times for DNA analysis. The sheriff’s office plans to start using the system soon, initially on certain types of felony investigations.
